‘Last night I was lying in bed with a book just as the sun went down when suddenly the sky changed in such an abrupt and surreal way, as if the light caught on a match as it disappeared.
I took only one second to decide and then tore down the ladder, snatched a dress from the closet and ran out into the woods. My remote was all out of batteries so I set the 10 second timer and rushed over to this stone, getting only one shot before the sun completely vanished.
This morning it was so cool on the ridge that my puppy and I both slept in and then we wandered sleepily with me bundled in a sweater listening to the Stranger Things soundtrack and drinking espresso.
I felt then that something truly was moving both in the world, and in me.
The fire is coming back.’
